Cross-Region Data Distribution
Moving curated data to regional applications, search and APIs while respecting residency, PII, latency and operational independence. Distribution as a platform capability, not a copy job.
The problem
Centrally processed data had to reach regional applications, search indexes, APIs and AI agents in the US, UK, EU and Australia, under different residency and privacy rules.
Key decisions
- Centralize canonical data logic; regionalize only what needs regional access.
- Classify data before it moves, not after.
- Treat replication targets as consumption stores, not new systems of record.
- Design for restartability and CDC correctness.
Outcome
Regions get the data they need with governance built in, instead of ad hoc database copies that drift over time.
Architecture flow
- Central data foundation
- Curated distribution models
- Operational data store
- Regional distribution
- Regional search, services and products
